We start by identifying the importance and benefits of small talk, finding out the reasons why we need small talk at all in the process. In this section we will discover how to start a conversation and break ice, overcoming communication barriers, as well as how to turn small talk into a beneficial communication tool. Additionally, you'll learn valuable phrases and tips to help you initiate engaging dialogues.
In this section participants will explore taboo topics in the international business environment and get examples of both positive and negative small talk scenarios. You will also learn different values that exist in various cultures and the way they impact intercultural relationships.
This part of the course is dedicated to engaging dialogues, so we will study such tools as active listening, back channelling and do's and don'ts of body language. You will explore the diverse interpretations of common signs and symbols around the world, both in verbal and nonverbal communication.
How to act in an awkward situation? In this section you will get effective strategies for smooth and confident interactions with people. We will provide you with guidance on how to address tricky or personal questions in business communication effectively, and give some tips for handling less-talkative or tough people.
